I’d have to say it all began for me with my dad and my cousin. My dad skated to as a kid, and he would always jump on our boards and do 360s and pedal around. To this day he could still do it. My cousin was older and had the best boards,so I was always trying to ride em. He had a lil skate crew of friends and I always wanted to tag along. As far as I can remember skateboarding has always been in my life. I never really had my own real professional skateboard though until later in life, so I know the feeling of wanting a nice new real board of my very own. Then when I moved to upstate New York I eventually got a paper route and that changed everything. I first bought a used Powell set up and after that it was on. I started getting better. I bought rails and built ramps with friends. We street skated Albany New Yorks marble ledges, stairs and monuments. We bombed State Street and Washington Park was our playground! We challenged eachother and together we all got better. The brotherhood and bonds and friendships I’ve made skating is something that will always be with me and I’ll always remember. So if I can now be a means for other kids to experience those feelings, joys and excitement, well…I think I’m in the right place, and I think I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing. In April 2023 Dickies Firestation skate park opened up in Fort Worth Texas. It was at a time in my life when I was going through some things. The park became my outlet, my therapy. I started going everyday trying to be active, getting pop and tricks back slowly but surely. I was rusty after years of barely skating and focusing on life and my kids. While frequenting the park, which is in the middle of the city, I noticed a lot of kids that not only needed skateboards, but other things as well. I would see them every day and it bothered me to where I was thinking about it all the time, wishing I could do something more for all of them. It was at this time that Vince was introduced to me through my friend Armand who’s the Austin Texas ambassador. And well… as they say, the rest is history! Everyday we #dogoodthings. Everyday we are affecting people, changing lives. I’m happy to be a part of The Heart of Stoke Foundation, and thank you for allowing me to be on this amazing journey!
